Job Growth in Illinois Remains Flat

According to a recent Manpower survey, job growth in Illinois remains flat, which doesn’t bode well for the thousands of unemployed workers in the state.

Overall, the survey showed that employer hiring plans for the third quarter also remains flat, despite recent positive stats showcased in the media.

A seasonally adjusted net 6% of firms saying they intend to hire, up from 5% in the second quarter.

Illinois Unemployment Up Again

As the state continues to lose jobs, Illinois unemployment continues to increase as well.

During June, the State of Illinois saw its unemployment rate increase from 10.1 percent to 10.3 percent, which is higher than the national unemployment rate of 9.5 percent. The state hasn’t seen its unemployment rate decrease since March 2007, when it went from 4.9 percent to 4.7 percent.

Illinois had a total non-farm employment of 5,686,100 workers during June, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is down from 5,700,000 workers during May and a 4.6 percent decrease from last year.
